Shopify store owners, take note! A critical change is coming to the management of your tracking pixels. In compliance with the latest Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS), Shopify will migrate the management of Google Analytics tags and Meta pixels from Online Store > Preferences to dedicated apps or custom pixels.
What You Need to Do
For accurate data tracking and the best performance, Shopify recommends setting up your pixels using the following apps:
- Google Analytics tag via the Google & YouTube app
- Meta Pixel via the Facebook & Instagram app
If you do not migrate your pixels by February 2, 2025, Shopify will attempt to convert them into sandboxed custom pixels. However, this automated process may lead to reduced performance, data loss, or degraded reporting. Additionally, the consent management of your pixels may change.
