Background
The Embassy of India in Washington D.C. is a web gateway for people seeking information about India, the Indian Embassy, visa and consular services, passport, US tourism etc. The objective of the embassy is to serve people looking for Indian visa- related information such as fees, payments and application forms. . Our client wanted to empower their staff to be able to manage the website content while self updating the site with latest Indian embassy-related information.
Challenge
The Indian embassy came to us for a facelift, The biggest challenge with the previous information architecture of the website was to organize the information in the proper hierarchy so that anyone could effortlessly retrieve key data from the site. The website design was missing balance in the graphical user interface and was inconsistent in different browsers. These inconsistencies were not only a turn off for many users looking for Indian visa information but were also increasing the bounce rate.
Solution
Netgains requested that the Indian Embassy provide detailed information in the design survey to help us get a better feel for their design and development requirements. This helped up to devise an information architecture that presented India and the Indian Embassy in the proper hierarchy. Once we had a well-organized design in place, our programming team custom coded a content management system in PHP that was not only robust but also easy for staff to operate. The development team implemented a site keyword search to enable users to locate vital information quickly with a press of the enter key. |
