Music Beta, remember it? It’s the online music locker service that Google unveiled at I/O in May. But the keyword in the title very much remains “Beta” — as in, not in any way ready for prime time. Okay, maybe that’s a bit unfair, the service does work — it just doesn’t offer much. A new feature today hopes to keep people interested while they work on making it better. Magnifier is a new music discovery site that Google has launched today as a compliment to Music Beta, a new music discovery site that will keep your collection growing. Magnifier will feature great music and the people who make it, including videos of live performances, interviews with artists, explorations of different musical genres and free songs that you can add to your Musi read more...

Pay per click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used to direct traffic to websites, where advertisers pay the hosting service when the ad is clicked. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. Content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system. Many people approach SEO and PPC as completely separate strategies. And while they are different in many ways, it can be helpful to think of SEO and PPC as being two sides of the same coin: search. There are many ways in which SEO and PPC efforts complement each other, and lead to a more successful search strategy. Consider these eight ways that make a coordinated SEO and PPC strategy greater than the sum of its parts. 1. Visibility The most read more...

Google+ iPhone App Pushes Out Speedy Update To Keeps Users From Spinning In Circles

Google pushed out its G+ iPhone app today a little bit too fast. It was buggy, crashed, and kept spinning in circles. In fact, it was so buggy that Google has already pushed out an update, which is the fastest update to an iPhone app I’ve ever seen. Google+ Mobile product manager Punit Soni says that the first app was actually a test version that was released by mistake, and thenew update should fix many of the stability issues. So if you have already downloaded the app, delete it and get the update. I downloaded the buggy version and found many of the same issues Robert Scoble complained about (it crashed, kept logging me out, froze, etc). After downloading the update, I couldn’t sign in until I powered down my iPhone and started again. read more...

Static URLs or Dynamic URLs It is well known that there are two types of URLs: Dynamic URLs andStatic URLs. A Dynamic URL is a page address that results from the search of a database-driven web site or the URL of a web site that runs scripts; Dynamic URLs are generated from specific queries to a site's database. The dynamic page is basically only a template in which to display the results of the database query. Instead of changing information in the HTML code, the data is changed in the database. In contrast, in Static URLs, the contents of the web page stay the same unless the changes are hard-coded into the HTML. Websites that utilize databases which can insert content into a webpage by way of a dynamic script like PHP or JavaScript are increasingly popular. This type of site read more...

The news comes on the heels of Mozilla’s announcement last month that it is also working on the project ‘ Right now, a web-based image editing app that wants to give users access to their photos that are already hosted online would have to bake in APIs for the popular services (Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, etc.). And if a user had a photo hosted on a smaller service, read more...
